The applicants should be the inhabitant of India to be present in the exam. Female and male applicants are at liberty to appear in the exam. Intended for IAS and IPS post, an applicant must belong to India.

The candidate can be a national of India or resident of Nepal, or could be belonging to the region of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee getting in to Indian land prior to 1st January 1962 so as to forever be a part of  India, or a PIO from the United Republic of Tanzania Pakistan, Burma, Vietnam East African countries of Kenya, Sri Lanka Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi and Ethiopia so as to always be located in India.

 Educational Qualification 


The educational qualification for UPSC Exam is a graduation in any subject existing from an established and well-known campus, assimilated by process of an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other edifying organizations formed by an Act of Parliament or recognized as an esteemed Academy in the UGC Act, 1956, or corresponding qualification. The applicants who are looking forward to the receiving of final year result will be evaluated.

The number of attempts 


The number of attempts authoritatively acclaimed in support of a general category applicant is 6. There remain 9 attempts to be allowable for OBC applicants. The applicants coming from SC and ST group can make unlimited endeavors in the anticipation of arriving at the upper age limit.
