UPSC Exam Pattern 2019 For Prelims & Mains Examination

Union Public Commission Services (UPSC) will make the announcement of the admission criteria of Civil Services 2019 exams at the start of January to meet the objective of recruitment of civil services to be exact Indian Admission Services(IAS), India Police Services(IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Group A, Group B and other essential services in the upcoming academic year 2019.

The UPSC  is conducted to point towards on the distribution of skilled candidates for each Civil Services post.

Individuals who are intended for taking up the job as IAS, IPS, IES have to submit an application by online.

IAS 2019 Exam Pattern 

The Exam Pattern indicates the allotment of questions, pattern of marks, sectional weight and time interval. The UPSC exam pattern is organized by Union Public Service Commission each year. The exam pattern comprises three stages-Prelims, Mains and Interview. Each of the section follows the different procedure.

IAS Exam Pattern for Prelims- The preliminary exam of IAS consists of two papers viz. General Ability Test (GAT) and the Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT). All questions will be objective in nature that will account for a total of 400 marks. IAS Prelims is a qualifying round and the marks scored will not be added to the total IAS score.

IAS Exam Pattern for Mains–  It incorporates two types of Papers – Qualifying Papers and Papers to be considered for Merit. The previous one will include two language exams, one will be as per the choice of student and another one will be of English. They will be 7 papers with each section consisting of 300 questions. There will be 250 marks.  UPSC Mains will consist of essay writing and objective type questions. Overall, the papers and the score in interview will be decided the position of the student for the specific post.

IAS Exam Pattern for Personality Test–  This test includes 275 marks that student will need to attain in the Mains Examination. This gives Psychometric Test, Assessment Test, and Personal Interview. The marks that any aspirant may achieve in Personality Test will be taken in to account for the production of the final Merit list.

IAS Marking Scheme for Mains 

  • The total marks of the Mains Examination is arranged with 1750 marks.
  • Each question will incorporate 2.5 marks.
  • They are distributed as per fundamentals of opinion, Content flow, understanding the problems/ situation, presenting possible solutions/strategies, presentation, and language
  • In the paper, students may opt for the optional papers they want to be enquired about.

IAS Exam Pattern for Personality Test 

  • Each student need to qualify the Mains examination to appear in Personality Test.
  • IAS 2019 will be designed on the subject of Psychometric Test, Assessment Test, and Personal Interview.
  • The test comes around in the language of preference.
  • The interview will be categorized into 275 marks. The total marks will be 225.
  • Students will be contemplated on per total marks and final interview.
