New Delhi, Jan 4: Aspirants of IAS are eagerly waiting for the result of the UPSC Civil Services Mains Exam 2016 that was conducted from December 3 to 9. The most awaited result is going to be announced by January 15 (tentatively).
UPSC Civil Services 2017: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the notification of the Civil Services preliminary examination 2017 on February 22.
As per the official UPSC calendar, the candidates have to submit the application form by March 17. The prelims will be held on June 18 while the main exam is scheduled for October 10.
The Civil Services examination is conducted by the UPSC to select candidates to fill administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.
UPSC will be filling up 1079 posts of the administrative position in Services Group A and Group B by the recruitment process. The first stage of the exam was the Preliminary phase. The successful candidates of Preliminary phase appeared for the Mains. Now candidates who have appeared for the UPSC IAS Mains Exam 2016 are waiting for their result.
The next phase of the recruitment process after the Mains will be Personality Test/ Interview. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will declare the result of the Mains exam on its official website upsc.gov.in. It is expected that the result will be announced in the month of January 2017.After all the stages of the recruitment process are over, the final result of IAS Recruitment will be declared in the month of April 2017.

The third phase of the recruitment process, the Personality Test will commence as per the schedule. The commission will upload the details of the schedule of Personality Test on the Commission’s website.

On December 7, examinations for language papers, Indian languages (Assamese/ Bengali/ Bodo/ Dogri/ Gujarati/ Kashmiri/ Hindi/ Kanada/ Konkani/ Maithili/ Malayalam/ Manipuri/ Nepali/ Marathi/ Oriya/ Punjabi/ Sanskriti/ Santhali/ Sindhi (Devangari/ Arabic script/ Tamil/ Telegu/ Urdu) was conducted in the morning session. The examinations for the optional papers was conducted on December 9.
The civil services examination is conducted annually in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers of the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
The civil services exam consists of the following two stages:
Civil services (preliminary) examination (objective type) for the selection of candidates for the main examination
Civil services (main) examination (written and interview) for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.
